Comcast turning Chicago homes into public Wi-Fi hot spots

Comcast turning Chicago homes into public Wi-Fi hot spots

Network will also be available to non-subscribers free for several hours each month or on a pay-per-use basis

The neighborhood hot spots initiative, rolling out during the next several months, will send a separate Wi-Fi signal from Comcast-issued home equipment, enabling anyone within range to get online. Soon, entire residential blocks will begin to show as hot spots on Xfinity's Wi-Fi mobile app, the company said Tuesday.

Because the Comcast subscriber's signal will be kept separate from the second, publicly available signal, the subscriber's speed and privacy shouldn't be affected, Comcast officials said, acknowledging that such concerns have been raised in test markets.

Handheld Vacuum
A small handheld vacuum is a quick and lightweight solution to knocking out places where pet hair builds up quickly. Walk around your home as often in a week as necessary. Remove hair from sleeping areas, sofas and carpets. Just clean the filter and return the vacuum to its charger. Make sure to find a handheld unit that weighs less than five pounds, runs at roughly 30 air watts and will operate for at least 15 minutes on a full battery.
Sponge
Sponges are great for picking up pet hair…and the dollar store sponges will work great! Apply a small amount of water to the sponge and rub it over the pet hair. The hair will stick to the sponge, so all you have to do is rinse to remove the hair.
Fabric Softener
Dryer sheets can also be used to pick up loose pet hair. Apply the sheet to the collection of hair and dispose of it when full.
Another great way to prevent excessive pet hair AND bond with your faithful companion is to spend time petting and brushing your pet. Your four-legged friend will appreciate the attention, and their coat will look much healthier.
